Hi there, my name is Salome Vigil. I've been interested in all things technology ever since I was a small child. I completed an associates degree in Computer Science, while working full time in retail. By that point in my career, I was climbing up the management ladder and decided management would be a good fit for me.
In 2018, I found out that my personal data had been compromised and someone attempted to steal my identity, using my private information to try to secure a lease in the state of California. Once I looked further into this I discovered that the cause of this came from the 2017 Equifax breach, I was one of the 147 million people impacted by this. At this moment, I realized how important security is in the world of technology, and I knew I could contribute to it in a positive way. Soon after, I decided to go back to school for my Bachelor's at Kennesaw State University and majored in Information Technology with a concentration in Data Assurance and Security.
After successfully completing the curriculum requirements, I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was given the opportunity to directly join the Masters of Science in Information Technology program at KSU. During my time in the Master's program I managed to obtain my degree along side two graduate certificates; Enterprise IT Management and Information Technology Security.
My interest in security is what leads me to be in this field, to help organizations know how to keep private data private, how to secure their networks, and how to actively monitor them to ensure there are no breaches or vulnerabilities available to hackers. This interest doesn't stop there, I also want to spread security awareness to office space employees as social engineering is one of the leading causes of network breaches.
I thrive to share my knowledge in this field, whether it be by doing the work hands on or by giving advice on set ups and program requirements. I also aim to expand my knowledge in technology as it rapidly transforms. Feel free to reach out to me via the contact page or by visiting any of my social media linked in the footer.
Programming has also been an interest of mine throughout the years, I have done several projects with Java, CSS, HTML, and MEAN Stack. I am also actively trying to master Python, and create some more projects featuring it like the Raspberry Pi Project. Visit my "Project Page" to look at different projects, as it is easier to show and visualize programming knowledge than it is networking knowledge.
I also like to have "hands-on" projects, which can range from something small like working with Raspberry Pi, setting up hardware, to building computers. Having a mixture of software and hardware when completing a project makes it more enjoyable.
